Prayer & Strategy

It takes both Prayer and Strategy! It is not an either or thing! I’ve seen a lot of churches and leaders pray for the lost and pray for their community, but with little results. I’ve seen churches strategize like crazy but not pray and they have little results as well. The churches that I have seen that are healthy and growing have both! As a certain Pastor often says, “It takes the natural and the supernatural working together that make an explosive force for God” (Kenneth W. Hagin). I think sometimes in our non-denominational churches we have been strong in the area of prayer but lacking on the strategy or action side of it!

A great example of both prayer and strategy is found in Matt. 9: 35-38 Message Bible

Then Jesus made a circuit of all the towns and villages. He taught in their meeting places, reported kingdom news, and healed their diseased bodies, healed their bruised and hurt lives. When he looked out over the crowds, his heart broke. So confused and aimless they were, like sheep with no shepherd. “What a huge harvest!” he said to his disciples. “How few workers! On your knees and pray for harvest hands!”

Jesus prayed for harvest hands. He prayed for the harvest! He got his disciples to pray, but notice He didn’t stop there! After he prayed he had a plan and he put that plan into action.

This was the strategy He gave His 12 disciples

Matt.10: 5-8—Message Bible

Jesus sent his twelve harvest hands out with this charge:
“Don’t begin by traveling to some far-off place to convert unbelievers. And don’t try to be dramatic by tackling some public enemy. Go to the lost, confused people right here in the neighborhood. Tell them that the kingdom is here. Bring health to the sick. Raise the dead. Touch the untouchables. Kick out the demons. You have been treated generously, so live generously.

Jesus had a strategy on what his team was too do next!!  He prayed and then He said ok this is How we are going to walk out what we just prayed out. –Church Leader If you have been praying to impact your city and for God to shake your community Great, What is your strategy to reach your community? In prayer God can show you unique ways to impact your community, but then you need to put action to it to carry it out! I hope this inspires you to think about what you have been praying for and to discover the next step and action you need to take.
